SecurityInternship

Cyber Security Intern

Learn to identify risks, communicate findings, and help make applications and systems safer through supervised, authorized work.

The opportunity

This internship is for someone curious about how systems fail and how to protect them. You’ll support security reviews, documentation, and remediation work while building practical foundations in application and infrastructure security. A careful approach, ethical judgment, and a willingness to learn matter more than collecting tools or certifications.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with authorized security checks in approved environments, following defined scope and supervision.
  • Review application behavior, configurations, and logs to help identify and document potential security issues.
  • Prepare clear findings that explain impact, supporting evidence, and practical remediation steps.
  • Help verify fixes and maintain security checklists, asset notes, and awareness materials.
  • Keep up with common vulnerabilities and share relevant learning with the team.

What you’ll bring

  • Foundational knowledge of networking, HTTP, operating systems, and basic web application behavior.
  • Familiarity with Linux and an interest in application security, authentication, and access control.
  • An understanding of responsible disclosure, confidentiality, and the need for explicit authorization before testing.
  • The ability to write clear notes, follow instructions, and ask for guidance when needed.
  • Relevant studies, self-directed learning, lab exercises, or equivalent evidence of interest in cybersecurity.

A little extra, if you have it

These are useful additions, not requirements.

  • Exposure to OWASP concepts and common web vulnerabilities.
  • Basic scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Personal lab write-ups or capture-the-flag learning notes that explain your approach.

How to apply

Include your résumé, your availability and preferred internship duration, and any relevant lab write-ups, coursework, or learning projects.
